There once was Toko-ji Temple where the monk Sesshu, who was invited by Masuda Kanetaka, stayed in Masuda from 1479 and drew a picture of Masuda Kanetaka (National important cultural property).

Toko-ji Temple was burned down in 1580 and Taikian was built in 1702 by Taiki Shoshuku who grieved of the devastated state of Toko-ji Temple.

There is also a grave of Sesshu (Historical site of Masuda City) adjacent to the hermitage.
