In 1602, the Masuda clan moved out to Susa of Nagato province as their liege Mori domain had thier fief reduced by Tokugawa shogunate.

Grieved over the glooming prospect of the city, Migita Somi started a brewery Migita Honten along with opening a market 6 days a month.

Now it has become the oldest brewery in Shimane in operation.
Using subterranean water of the Masuda river, they brew their famous “Somi” and recently revived 16th century style sake “Yozaemon”.

A guided cellar tour by its owner is available. (reservation required)
